Everybody Knows This is Nowhere was the last album by Neil I really liked. The first one is the classic for me.

well what can he do to help himself from being one of the most boring, over-rated charmless morose gits the world has to offer? Sorry! IMHO only... have never been able to see what it is that anyone sees in Morrissey in any of his incarnations, although I accept that lots apparently do him. Of course, millions also love that other morose self-involved ponderously egotistical git Mr Roger Waters, but at least I can kind of understand that, even if The Final Cut is a bit hard to swallow.
Oh well, back to your regularly scheduled Archives bashing Oh look and here comes Phil now

Well, I would almost agree with you on that, but I really liked Rust Never Sleeps and Live Rust which came after Zuma in the 70s. After that, it was the desolate 80s period.

Latest news on the set from:http://www.4waysite.com/news_rumors/2009.htm

Young's much-anticipated 'Archives' pushed back, but new disc out March 31
2009 | January 21 | canadianpress

TORONTO — The wait continues for Neil Young fans.

Young's oft-delayed "The Archives Vol. 1 1963-1972" box set has been pushed back again until later this year with no firm date for its release, according to a representative from Warner Music Canada.

The collection, originally scheduled for release last fall, is expected to include unreleased studio and live recordings, fresh film footage, photos, personal letters and a 150-page book.

Some reports have indicated that the set will use the Blu-Ray format, but the Warner rep said details have not been finalized.

In the meantime, Young's new disc, "Fork in the Road," is scheduled for release March 31, with the title track already available for download on his website.

Early press about the record, however, has not been positive.

In a review of a Madison Square Garden performance by Young last month, the Village Voice called his new material "absolutely terrible."

The songs, which writer Rob Harvilla said seemed culled from a concept album about eco-friendly cars, were "disturbingly beef-witted" and the crowd reaction was emphatic: Harvilla reported that only 60 per cent of the original audience remained by the end of the show.

Young's interest in eco-friendly cars is well-established.

Last year, the legendary Canadian rocker teamed up with mechanic Johnathan Goodwin, in the hopes of converting Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental to operate on an electric battery.

Young is nominated for a Grammy Award for best solo rock vocal performance for his song "No Hidden Path," off last year's "Chrome Dreams II." The awards will be handed out Feb. 8 in Los Angeles.

March 31 will not happen. Think June at the earliest.

.
this is quite an unfair comment. any New Yorker, who is a suburbanite had a train to catch. this concert ended at 12:45am...i know cause i missed my train and had to wait forever to get home and a weekday/schoolnight....no one who showed up thought the concert would go past 11, 11:30, when every show in the garden seems to end...that Neil hit the stage after 10pm was the problem if there was one...

sheez...the folks were leaving cause they had trains to catch...the show was great even if the new songs weren't all that great, they werent clearing the house. trains stop running very frequently after 1130...

Don't Let It Bring You Down, its only Archives Yearning...

Jeez-Zeus... When will it ever end? I'm starting to feel a little sorry for folks who may have pre-order this baby based on this thread's title-date, the 'new' Feb. date and the pictures posted which may have seduced some folk's into the siren call of this still mythical beast...

As for me I am still fumming at Neil for abusing his fan's thusly with each new delay... and, no excuses folks, there can be no doubt he has totally jerked us around on this baby for far too long...

But, I've let go of caring about it much anymore, now...

cheers,

You know... I have it pre-ordered at Amazon.com... and I can always cancel. But this is ridiculous. I may just not buy this thing on principle. WTF is up with Neil.

I'm curious...does Neil still get high? He couldn't have written "Fork In the Road" while he was straight.
