I agree with this as well.

Now he is reduced to sticking This Note's for You outtakes on his "new" albums.
His indecision dates back to the beginning of his career. If you aren't Ben Keith, then being one of Neil's backing musicians must be completely infuriating, which is still what I think he intends with the Archives. We're getting the full Neil experience; what it's like to be Billy Talbot.

He scrapped the second Crazy Horse album in 1970. He scrapped a live album in 1971. He's been doing it all along. The thing about that 74-77 era is that he had so many good songs and at least half of them didn't get out. It's not entirely unexpected that he draws from this era because there is simply so much there. I don't particularly care for releasing really old songs as "new" material though. I'm basically okay with "Beautiful Bluebird" and "Box Car" from Chrome Dreams. "Ordinary People" makes no sense at all though. It's a legendary song from a particular era during which Neil's sound was different than in any other era. "Ordinary People" should have been in the Archives, or released on Freedom, or preferably on the unreleased live album This Note's For You Too.

I think that when/if he releases the Archives we'll see how much poaching he really did. That is, if he follows through with presenting material in chronological order.

On the next Rolling Stone cover (with Metallica on it), under the "Fall Preview" banner appear the words "Neil Young." Unless Neil's got a new album we don't know about, this could only be referring to the Archives.

Sooner or later, so much pre-release material and information will be out there that he'll HAVE to release it. Right?

He sent store displays to retail in 1976 for the imminent release of Decade, then pulled it.

And Decade eventually came out, right? You're proving my point!

Last year, there was an official Archives trailer; we've all seen it. That, to me, was PROOF that the Archives would eventually come out, whether Neil wants them to or not. Once the record company gets involved and starts promising things and producing promo material, it HAS to come out. Neil has only been delaying the inevitable.

Am I correct in thinking that he re-signed with Reprise using the Archives as leverage?

Decade came out almost a year later. I think the Archives will come out too, but it could happen at any time.

Imagine if Neil did a u-turn on releasing Archives on the Blu-Ray format and instead just put it out on vinyl!

It's September 18th, has Neil Young changed his mind yet again for the 478th time? Is there another new technology out there he's discovered that must have his Archives?

Seriously, have price points been discussed? I don't have Blu-Ray, so it's the DVD version for me.

Never. He's all about the video content.

But I wonder how the DVD's would work. If it's any different from DVD-A. If it's even coming!!

Don't worry -- he'll release the video content with the vinyl ... on Super-8!
