    Steve,

    Thanks for sharing. Excellent job you and Kevin Gray did on the Music Matters LP. What differences are there in how the two projects were approached in mastering? Curious on it. Look forward to owning the AF Gold as well.

    I think Steve talked about the original LP pressings.

    The Warner LP remaster (SH/KG) sounds fantastic... hard to believe the AF will top this one. But I'm sure the AF will be the new digital reference disc.

    Mr. Marsh makes me a flat copy of the master and I practice (or whatever you want to call it) on it, yes. At home studio.

    A "flat transfer" sounds like it would be a PURE way to master and it used to be the buzzwords for audiophile mastering. Us few audiophile engineers over the years have known that a really "flat" transfer of a tape will just lay there. Not very good sounding.

    When we do the A to D we use {PROPRIETARY INFO}.
    :)

    I don't have any James Taylor music in my collection. It looks like this may serve as a good entry point.

    I don't currently own any James Taylor, and this seems like the perfect starting point. Just put in my pre-order.

    Thanks

    Edit: Wow!! I didn't even read the above post by DPM, but I basically copied them. ;

    As the old Latin phrase says, "Age quod agis". (Do well what you do)

    Steve, what you describe in this thread's OP is a good example of this.

    My 2nd favorite JT lp. I can't wait to experience it! (My fav. JT is the self titled Apple release.)

    Steve, I was also wondering if JT gets a chance to hear it before release?

    Yep, there'll be a period missing at the end of a sentence on page 5 of the booklet.
    Mass hysteria will ensue :laugh:
