HAHA! I have a soft spot for the restless romantic ,Greg Lake. Half of his comments are witless and nonsensical. Therefore, he is at times unintentionally quite the cut up. I also met a certain cute girl back in the day because of him and that song , Nuclear Attack , he did with Gary Moore!??? Greg also wrote a tune with of all people, Bob Dylan?!! Whatta crazy world indeed.....

I've got seats in the front row for the Lakewood, Ohio show.

Sad thing is...it is really just a high school's performing arts center.

Hmm, where are you getting these tour dates from? I don't see the Chandler, AZ date anywhere on the official site or elsewhere.

I think the gigs will be a great warm-up for the big UK festival

I don't know why Carl Palmer isn't there. I think they're saving the ELP gig for the special event

I love acoustic live albums. Have you heard the Nils Lofgren live acoustic cd? It's excellent.

I hope we get a cd and a dvd from this tour!

+1 I thought that treatment was unjustified. He's a very nice and down to earth guy as well!

Does anyone know if there will be a warm-up act ?

  17. It's 15 min from my house. Don't worry, it's a nice enough auditorium. Saw Wilco there last March, and then Lyle Lovett this past fall. Not great acoustics, but not bad at all.

I am still on the fence about this one (even though it's 15 min away). Posted about it earlier in another forum. I am a huge ELP fan (saw them do "Pictures" live at Wooster College in 1971, saw them 2 other times within those first few yrs), but was turned off by the initial pricing (early ticketmaster site wanted $100 for front section), by the lack of Mr Palmer's involvement, and mostly by the concern about Keith's condition. My venue is the first show so I won't have the luxury of any performance reviews/feedback. ARGH!! :(

Just got back from the show...

    It was AWESOME!

    No...wait...it was canceled!

Doors were to open at 6:30 p.m. and when we got there at 7:15 p.m. (15 minutes before the show was to begin), it looked as though they had just opened the doors at that minute. Why the delay?

There was a souvenir stand set up, and the stage was completely ready to go, with all the instruments in place and roadies coming out now and then testing equipment.

Again...show was to start at 7:30 and at roughly 8:10 p.m., a lady came out and read a statement from a piece of paper that said the concert had been canceled due to circumstances beyond their control. A few people yelled "April Fools!", but she assured us that the show was indeed canceled and that we could get refunds for our tickets. The lights came up and the roadies began to disassemble the equipment.

What is interesting to note is that EVERYTHING was in place for the concert, including the souvenir stands. This was, in my mind, a last minute cancellation. I think they held us there for 45 minutes so that the souvenir stand could be taken down, which it was by the time we exited, so as to prevent refunds on merchandise already bought or for fear of theft or violence - even though the average concert goer's age was probably around 50.

Thoughts: I think SOMEONE (cough Greg Lake cough) in the band saw during the sound check that they were actually playing at a high school auditorium on the first night of this tour and got a "I've been in this business for over 40 years and I am NOT playing a high school gym!" attitude and simply refused to play.

I would suggest that folks with tickets for other towns call ahead to make sure the show is in fact going to happen. We drove up from Columbus to Cleveland for this show (3 hour drive), booked a hotel, etc. - so needless to say we are in a pretty pissy mood right now.

I have already received an e-mail from LiveNation (post-marked 10:44 P.M. EST) that my tickets have already been refunded and that I don't need to do anything.

Short of Emerson or Lake having a heart attack backstage at 7:25, the whole thing stinks really, really badly. :shake:

I remember when I caught ELP in Cleveland during their 1992 Black Moon reunion tour, and they played an outdoor venue that would be considered somewhat "intimate". I overheard a roadie say that this was the smallest venue ELP had ever played in their entire history and that someone in the band was really bitching about it backstage, so clearly they have issues with playing less than prestigious venues.

Initially, this tour stop was booked at The House of Blues, but was changed very quickly to the Lakewood Civic Auditorium which really is just a high school auditorium no matter how you dress it up.

Nice way to kick off a tour!
