Wow! Can't wait to hear what they have to say about that...I'll try to nose around town to see if anyone has the real story.

Regardless of what Keith, Greg, or the rest of us might think of Lakewood HS, they DO get plenty of real, borderline bigtime shows there (saw Radiohead on the OK Computer tour there, Ben Folds Five, and Tears For Fears at least)...that said, it would be especially lame if two guys who (no matter how much I love a great deal of their music) are almost completely off the radar like them would start copping an attitude like that at this point.

I just hope everyone's OK...sounds medical to me.

Could easily be Keith's hands are acting up. Or Greg's voice is shot (again). Though, the former, at least, would have been obvious from the sound check and there's no reason they should have waited as long as they did to cancel in that case. If it's Keith's hands, he might have thought he could get through it and decided, finally, he couldn't.

According to a tweet by this guy, who appears to be involved with either the Keswick Theater, the stagehands local, or sound/light type of deal in Glenside, PA, the show for Friday night has also been canceled.

If I'm reading it right there was a bit of sarcasm in his post...at least, as someone with tickets for the Keswick show, I hope its sarcasm. :help:

the tickets for the Dallas show went on sale before I knew about it, and the good seats were all gone the day after...but I realized they are playing an old movie theater, the seating is rearranged so they can charge more, and at $100 for a good seat (if any were available), plus fees, for an obese, aging, shot-voiced Lake, no Palmer, and whose show is limited to acoustic stuff, I am happy to skip it....I could see the whole tour being canceled, frankly

Hmm, I was planning on seeing the show at the casino near Phoenix toward the end of April, but now I am wondering if it is going to happen at all. You would think they would incur a big loss in canceling the whole tour, but things are not sounding very promising. I looked at Greg Lake's page, and the next few shows are supposedly sold out. Why would the deliberately cancel sold out shows? Maybe there is a health issue preventing them from performing?

I'm very sorry to learn of this Cellphone- I'd be pissed off too.

I'll be certain to keep a close watch on this, as I have tix for next Friday.

If anyone has any updates, please post to this thread.

Again, the thing that sticks out MOST to me is that the stage was completely ready to go for a concert. Even if the sound check revealed Lake's voice to be shot, they would have had plenty of time to shut everything down and make an announcement BEFORE opening the doors to the ticket goers. Perhaps they just wanted to fleece the fans of their money at the merchandise table before cancelling?

I am speculating that an argument developed about the venue and someone said "Uh-oh, here we go again!" and the whole tour will be cancelled. Sometimes the reasons why bands split up never really go away and old, ugly behaviors rear their heads.

Yeah, if Soeder doesn't know, then they're really keeping it close to the vest (or he's just playing nice with Live Nation if that's what they've requested?). He did an article or two leading up to the show if I recall (at least an interview with Lake), did a couple tweets about it, etc...frankly I was surprised how all over it he seemed to be...rare to see such coverage for a band/tour like that nowadays in the PD.

Venue prestige? Doesn't matter if you're playing at the Piggly Wiggly; you got several hundred people who paid to see you, you get on the stage. As mentioned, any performance or health issues would have made themselves known at soundcheck and would probably have been announced with the cancellation. (And I genuinely hope E and L are in good shape.) One thing you can't announce is 'Sorry everybody, the show's cancelled, the principals are feuding with each other.' I don't like e-speculating, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.

Keswick Theater confirms tonight's show is cancelled as well. So venue prestige is clearly not the reason.

Nonetheless, unless they ultimately reveal a compelling reason involving the health of a principal or the death of a close family member, this kind of stunt will stop me from ever buying a ticket for a band involving these guys again.

    Cleveland.com article updated with this:

"There were reports of an argument between Emerson and Lake before the show. Both musicians were members of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, a band with a long history of infighting."

Yea, bummer. :shake: Was looking forward to this one. Ironically enough I saw Carl Palmer at the Keswick a few years ago and he put on a great show.

Maybe Palmer decided not to get involved in this tour because he knew something like this was bound to happen. Anyway, if they show up next week I'll be there. If not, I'll get a refund.

I just received the email announcement from the Keswick theater that tonight's show is cancelled. Disappointing. If it is because the two of them can't get along, that's pretty sad, but I'm not going to assume anything until I hear for sure.

Yes. I don't want to rush to judgement before knowing the facts, but it's not looking good. Sure, shows get cancelled from time to time but the circumstances behind this situation are particularly bad, considering how long they waited to announce it, and the lack of any reasons given at all. Sympathies to all who were there.

I can only wish Henry Rollins was in in the building

This is hilarious. All they were to do was waste time telling stories and sing a few accoustic songs and they couldn't even manage that. Gotta love rock star egos.

Call me shocked that two grown men can act like that if its true.

Looks like that Westbury show won't happen if they are not even talking to each other.
