Posted by his son on his Facebook page, Mike Pinder Mellotronman, but it’s a private group. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?id=288846087823790&story_fbid=25453079220973796
That link appears broken, but this one works. Very sad news. Candle of Life indeed. https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=mike pinder
I believe he’d been (quietly) dealing with dementia of some kind for years. Founder and in many ways the heart and soul of the Moody Blues. And a brilliant innovator — nobody could come close to his mastery of the Mellotron.
Oh man! RIP Mike Pinder. I’ve shared this before but it’s always worthwhile and just really good. One of the great aspects of the first 15 minutes or so is the camera view of Mike playing the Mellotron. The man in action. It’s so good.
RIP, rest easy Mike. Thank you for all the contributions to the musical awesomeness of the Moody Blues
Not unexpected at this point, but still sad. We lost Ray in '18 and Graeme in '21. Now it's just Justin & John.
Ah crap. One of my favorites, in one of my very favorite bands. There’s not much else I can say. RIP Mike .
What a talented and crucial part of The Moodies’ sound. Pinder was probably THE finest mellotron player ever.
