Like two girls rooming together at college.

I've been trying to search for the thread where we talked about the missing tapes but it's difficult to look for something as vague as "The Band" or lost tapes, etc... Will this be the first time the real deal is used for a CD?

BTW, this thread is important enough to be a sticky, yeah?

Just a guess but I wonder if he has a better source for WIBN? Steve mentioned that he had to use the "NY tape" (which I beleive is a copy tape) for WIBN and the train/dog sounds. The rest of the album came from the "LA tape". Others may know more..

I don't feel as foolish for *giving* my copy of the DCC Pet Sounds to a girl at a party back in the late 90's now

I'm in for School's Out and the Band's s/t....this is great news.

Yeehaw! While there's TONS of stuff that would sound good, I'd love to see Supertramp's Crisis, What Crisis? and Even In The Quietest Moments released as AF discs...since Breakfast and Crime have been done by MFSL, the band might be open to it.

I will buy all of these, especially School's Out (I was one of those who requested AC back when Marshall was taking suggestions.)

Please please please do Love It to Death, Killer, Billion Dollar Babies, and Muscle of Love!!!!!

Curious to see how the new version of Pet Sounds stacks up against the DCC!

I haven't heard anything about them finding the missing tapes. Hopefully they have and we're just out of the loop. :)

Well said Chris. I have to add that the original mix was the b-side to the 1973 single "Ain't Got No Home" and it was mono. It was remixed in stereo for the 2000 remaster.

    Steve-o,

Thank you for sharing this fantastic info with us. What a great bit of news for a Monday. :goodie:
If may ask, Steve, where have the master tapes for the 69 self-titled Band album been? For years they've been missing IIRC.

  12. This is terrific news--all releases that I would definitely buy!

Mark Linett has mentioned on other boards that the master is/was lost but they found a flat digital copy of it that was made during the preperation of the 1990 CD. Of couse, the 1990 CD has NR and (I think, not sure) some remixed intro's. This flat digital copy of the master may be a better source than the NY tape. That said I would think Steve wouldn't want to work from a digital source. Andreas and Lou know more about the saga of the Pet Sounds tapes than I do. I can't remember why WIBN isn't on the LA tape.

These are some A-list titles!! I'm excited!

Any chances getting that Deep Purple Fireball project started up again?

No, it wasn't her  It wasn't even a girl I was interested in.

I had just bought the Pet Sounds Sessions box so I figured I didn't need the DCC anymore. The girl in question had never heard Pet Sounds so I was like "here, you can have this copy"

I like all of these except for Ronstadt since there is an excellent Cisco LP...still this will be nice to have done well in digital.

Yes good news and nice titles.
Look forward to getting these and any others that get the green light!

  24. The Band S/T. From the master tape. Pretty cool.

  25. Excellent news! You'll sell at least one copy of the Linda Ronstadt and The Band gold discs here. And of course I could use another Pet Sounds CD as well, especially if it will contain a Hoffman mastered stereo mix!
